The Texas Comptroller’s Office announced yesterday that personal information for 3.4 million people had not been not stored securely.  The records were from the Teacher Retirement System of Texas, Texas Workforce Commission, and the Employee Retirement System of Texas.  While there is not yet any evidence that this data has been misused, the Comptroller’s office is sending letters to notify the people whose information was exposed. A website http://www.txsafeguard.org/ ,and toll free number, (855) 474-2065, has been set up to provide details and assist Texans in protecting their identity.
